Work Detail General Situation In March 2025, formal employment in construction remained stable , with a slight monthly increase of 0.1% , reaching 354,003 jobs . Despite recent stability, employment remains 13% below the 14-year average. The year-on-year comparison shows a 1.6% drop , maintaining the slowdown in the rate of decline for the ninth consecutive month , the lowest rate since November 2023. Average employment in the first quarter of 2025 was 3.3% lower than in the same period in 2024. Business Structure Average employment per company remained at 13.4 workers , unchanged from February. Large construction companies (more than 500 employees) reduced their workforce by 3% monthly , lowering their share to 10% of the sectors total . During the first quarter, large companies accounted for 10.2% of total employment , a decrease of 1.8 percentage points year-on-year. Trends and Regional Distribution Regional developments were mixed , with 15 of 25 jurisdictions showing increases in employment. The most notable provinces were Formosa (+7.4%) and Río Negro (+3.9%) . At the regional level, the NOA (+6.6%) and NEA (+1.9%) were the only regions with growth above the national average. In contrast, Patagonia was once again the worst-performing region, with a 0.8% drop , strongly influenced by the decline in Santa Cruz (-10.9%) , despite being a historically active month for that area. In the provincial year-on-year comparison, the performance was very uneven: San Luis led with a rise of 42.2% , followed by Corrientes (+29.2%) . The largest falls were recorded in Santa Cruz (-56.2%) and La Rioja (-25.5%) . Employers in Construction In April 2025, the number of active employers grew by 3.4% year-on-year . The remaining jurisdictions of the country drove this increase with an increase of 8.7% , while in the Large jurisdictions the growth was less than 1% . The Province of Buenos Aires stood out negatively, registering a 0.9% year-over-year drop in the number of employers, being the only jurisdiction in the country with negative results in this indicator. Conclusion Formal employment in construction showed signs of stability in March, with slight increases and a continued slowdown in the year-on-year decline. However, employment remains behind historical averages. Large companies are losing relative importance, while the northern regions of the country are leading the recovery. Employment creation is concentrated in non-metropolitan jurisdictions, although pockets of weakness persist, such as the Province of Buenos Aires and Santa Cruz.
