Work Detail Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) has taken a bold step toward greener operations by entering into a long-term agreement with AMPIN Energy Utility One. The 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) will enable IMFA to draw 40 MW of hybrid renewable energy to power its industrial activities in Odisha. This energy transition is designed to support IMFA’s broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals by reducing its reliance on traditional energy sources. As part of the agreement, AMPIN will supply a hybrid system that includes both solar and wind energy—specifically, 58 MW of solar and 58 MW of wind capacity. This dual-source approach is expected to enhance energy reliability while also lowering IMFA’s carbon emissions over time. Bijayananda Mohapatra, Chief Operating Officer of IMFA, emphasized the importance of this development in the company’s sustainability journey. He described the agreement as a pivotal move toward cleaner, more responsible manufacturing practices. By embedding renewable energy into its core operations, IMFA is not only improving its environmental footprint but also aiming for greater cost stability in energy procurement. This partnership reflects a growing trend among industrial players to align with India’s clean energy goals while ensuring long-term operational resilience. IMFA’s initiative marks a significant step for Odisha’s industrial sector in adopting renewable energy as a mainstream solution.
