Due to work to upgrade the railway network in Lombardy, some lines will be closed to rail traffic during the summer. The work by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (FS Italiane Group) will serve to increase the punctuality, regularity and reliability of the lines as well as to improve the performance of the lines and can only be carried out by interrupting train circulation. Periods have therefore been identified to minimize the impact on travellers as much as possible. The main interventions will concern the lines Milan-Domodossola, Gallarate-Porto Ceresio, Brescia-Parma, Lecco-Tirano/Colico-Chiavenna. Monza-Molteno-Lecco and Nodo di Milano (Railway Passante Line) where the train circulation program will therefore be remodulated: some connections will be cancelled or limited. At the end of the works, as required by the regulations in case of renewal of the infrastructure, the full speed in the affected sections must be reached gradually. For this reason, for a transitional period, an increase in travel times is expected. Below is the detail of the interventions: Milan-Domodossola line , between Arona and Premosello, works to adjust the tunnel gauge, extraordinary maintenance of works of art and for the implementation of the ERTMS/ETCS system, launch of new switches for ACC Belgirate and renewal of tracks on the Lesa - Belgirate section from 8 June to 27 July and from 30 August - 13 September. Economic investment: 80 million euros. The works will cause the interruption of traffic on the stretch between Arona and Domodossola. In addition, rail traffic will be rescheduled between Sesto Calende and Arona for extraordinary maintenance work on a work of art in Sesto Calende from 8 June to 27 July. Economic investment: 1 million euros. Arona-Oleggio line , circulation interrupted on the Arona-Oleggio section from 28 June to 27 July, for ERTMS works. Economic investment 21 million euros. Gallarate-Varese-Porto Ceresio line , for ERTMS works from 28 July to 24 August, circulation interrupted on the Gallarate-Varese-Porto Ceresio and Varese-Stabio sections. Economic investment 73 million euros. Brescia-Parma line , circulation interrupted between Torrile San Polo and Parma for railway consolidation works from 5 July to 31 August. Economic investment 2 million euros. Lecco – Tirano/Colico-Chiavenna line, train traffic interrupted on the Lecco – Tirano and Colico – Chiavenna sections from 15 June to 14 September, for multi-sector extraordinary maintenance works, strengthening and elimination of level crossings preparatory to the 2026 Olympics (Financial investment 30 million euros) and interventions to improve the accessibility of the stations of Lecco, Colico, Tirano, Morbegno, Tresenda, and the stops of Chiuro, Talamona, Dorio and Abadia Lariana. Economic investment 27 million euros. Monza-Molteno-Lecco line , railway circulation interrupted on the Monza-Molteno-Lecco section from 28 July to 24 August, for ERTMS works ( Economic investment 43 million euros) and for accessibility works in the stations of Carate, Calò and Civate (Economic investment 3 million euros). As a result, the service on the Como-Lecco line will be suspended. Milan Node , circulation interrupted in the Passante ferrovia between Milano Certosa and Milano Rogoredo from 28 July to 24 August, for track renewal and technological enhancement works. Economic investment: 5 million euros. |
