Tenders are invited for Mapping and Documenting the Impact of Destruction of Public and Cultural Spaces in Lebanon. Closing Date: Sunday, 30. Mar 2025 Intervention Sector(s): Advocacy & Awareness Scope of Work The war has left a profound loss on the Lebanese community. Many have lost loved ones, homes, neighborhoods, and some have lost their entire villages. The destruction has impacted the lives of countless people across Lebanon, affecting both individuals and communities on a deeply personal and collective level. One of the most significant consequences of this destruction has been the loss of public spaces, including cultural landmarks. This has resulted in a loss of identity, a disconnection between people and their surroundings, and an increasing sense of expatriation. Lebanon has long struggled with issues of history and identity preservation, even before the war. The demolition of historical buildings and the shrinking of public spaces, coupled with urban expansion, have all contributed to this ongoing challenge. Mapping the destruction, documenting the types and numbers of spaces and landmarks lost is important to understand what has been taken from Lebanese people, what could potentially be preserved, and how this loss impacts the sense of community. These maps allow to examine the implications of these changes on the connection to the land, the history, and collective identity. Hence, We are seeking proposals from qualified individuals, teams, or organizations to contribute to a project focused on mapping and documenting the destruction caused by Israeli attacks. This project aims to capture the loss and erasure of cultural, social, and historical landmarks in key neighborhoods. Key Objectives fo the project Document the destruction of targeted cultural and historical spaces. Create maps that illustrate the loss of cultural and socio-economic components.
