Mar 2025 Intervention Sector(s): Gender issues Remuneration range: 5000 to 6000 (USD) Duration of Contract: 15 days ABAAD Resource Center for Gender Equality Tailoring and Sewing Terms of Reference (TOR) Position: Sewing and Textile Trainer Requirement: Proven experience in tailoring and sewing training Project: MAKANI AID 012590/03/8 Time Frame for this assignment: Starting April 2025 Duration: 15 days for training Location: Jbeil, Suq al Ghareb (Mount Lebanon) Type of consultancy: service agreement ABOUT ABAAD ABAAD Resource Center for Gender Equality is a UN ECOSOC accredited organization that aims to achieve gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region. ABAAD advocates for the development and implementation of policies and laws that enhance womens effective participation, through a rights-based approach that would bring about tangible change to gender justice. With the purpose of ending gender-based violence, ABAAD adopts a holistic care approach to provide protection and support services to GBV survivors/right holders during times of peace, war and disasters since 2011. OVERALL GOAL OF THIS ASSIGNMENT The project entitled Makani: Education, Protection, Empowerment, and Community inclusion in Lebanon aims to enhance educational services, empower caregivers, and support economically vulnerable mothers. The project is targeting mothers of economically vulnerable families with children excluded or at risk of exclusion from school build pathways to economic empowerment and social inclusion and improve their opportunities to access income by focusing on achieving four main results: Livelihood promotion, social protection, social empowerment, and financial inclusion. This training aims to equip participants with basic tailoring, textile and sewing skills. The training will be consisting of 15 days, for a group of 10 to 20 women. Duties and Responsibilities Develop and Customize a Training Curriculum Design a comprehensive training curriculum tailored for participants with varying skill levels, focusing on foundational sewing techniques, pattern development, and textile applications. Incorporate techniques to produce basic clothing, household items (e.g., curtains, tablecloths, pillowcases), and customized textile products for personal or commercial use. Deliver Practical and Technical Training Sessions: Conduct hands-on sessions to teach core skills such as cutting, stitching, hemming, and pattern replication. Introduce advanced sewing techniques, such as darts, pleats, and piping, as appropriate to participant progress. Provide guidance on choosing suitable fabrics for different purposes, focusing on durability and functionality. Machine Maintenance and Repair: Teach participants basic sewing machine operations, troubleshooting, and repair techniques. Highlight proper maintenance practices to ensure long-term functionality of sewing tools and machines. Evaluation of skills acquired Develop a pre- and post-to evaluate the skills acquired by the participants, and prepare a report reporting the findings Logistical Arrangements: If applying as an organization, you will be responsible for booking the venue and providing any necessary materials. This must be reflected in your portfolio and proposal. Learning Objectives and Expected Outcomes Skill Acquisition: Equip participants with the skills needed to create essential clothing, household, and customized textile items. Sustainability: Teach participants basic sewing machine maintenance and repair techniques to prolong the lifespan of tools and equipment. Production Management: Enable participants to plan and execute production activities effectively for personal or commercial purposes. Skills Required Expertise in tailoring and sewing. Experience in delivering training sessions, particularly to marginalized or vulnerable groups, experience with women is an assets Strong communication and presentation skills. Based on the EoI received, pre-selected candidates will be invited for the second phase of evaluation through a tender in which bidders will be asked to submit a detailed technical and financial offer. The technical evaluation will assess the relevance and adequacy of the proposed approach and the expertise of the consultant, ensuring alignment with the assignments objectives and requirements. The financial evaluation will review the cost-effectiveness and overall budget feasibility. Both sections must be satisfactorily addressed for a bid to be considered for award.
