To learn more, visit www.habitat.org About the Adaptation Fund Project: The Improved Resilience of Coastal Communities in Côte dIvoire and Ghana project, supported by the Adaptation Fund is being implemented jointly by the UN-Habitat, Habitat for Humanity Africa, the University of Twente, and the Abidjan Convention in collaboration with local governments, academics, and civil society organizations (CSOs).This initiative is a vital step aimed at addressing the escalating impacts of climate change on some of the most vulnerable communities in West Africa. Consultancy Overview The Adaptation Fund project was officially launched on 26th September 2024 following a stakeholder workshop held in Abidjan. As part of the projects communication plan, we are seeking a skilled documentarian, individual or team, who will collect high-quality photos and videos to visually convey compelling stories in both Côte dIvoire and Ghana. Prior to the shoot, Habitat for Humanity will provide a shot list, an interview guide and an outline of the videos narrative focus. The Consultant to follow the guidelines provided by Habitat for Humanity, as well as those of the Adaptation Fund (the donor) and UN-Habitat (Multilateral Implementing Entity - MIE), to ensure the footage aligns with the organizations vision, objectives, and the requirements of all key stakeholders. .. The ideal Consultant should have expertise in visual storytelling, with the ability to craft a cohesive narrative through imagery. Additionally, experience in capturing content related to international development is essential to effectively reflect the projects impact and context. The Consultant is also expected to maintain continuous coordination with other teams and demonstrate sensitivity to the local context, working closely with the communities involved to ensure respectful and accurate representation. The Consultant will be expected to take into account the gender-responsive knowledge management approach. This includes highlighting specific gender considerations through the reporting and communication of the projects commitment to gender equality and womens empowerment. The Consultant should ensure that all contentwhether reports, media, or other materialsincorporates and showcases how women have benefited from the interventions and overall process, in line with gender equality objectives. Objectives The main objective of this consultancy is to collect video content (b-roll and interviews) and photography (approximately 30 edited images per shoot) to support communications and advocacy work related to identified programmatic areas for the initiative. The content will be integrated into a shared drive for the project and used across various channels and purposes. This consultancy includes video editing. It is expected that the consulting team involved the consultancy, as outlined in this TOR, should comprise roles such as producer, videographer, photographer and audio, with some individuals potentially taking on dual roles). Scope of Work 1. Briefing/planning session (virtual): Participate in an overview meeting with the project communications team led by Habitat for Humanity and project leads to gain clarity on requirements of consultancy and execution. 2. Principal filming/photography: Film b-roll, conduct on-camera interviews and take photograph of the project sites, following guidelines Habitat for Humanity will provide to the successful Consultant based on the specific shoot requirements. 3. File organization and uploading: Properly name, organize and upload all captured content to a cloud-based platform to allow Habitat for Humanity and project partners to access and download for use. Email soft copies of all consent forms. Timeline This consultancy will span 2-3 working days per shoot per country (excluding travel days), with filming and photography beginning within the month of March 2025. Timeframe Activity Planning session (0.5 day) Principal filming and photography (2 -3 days estimated per shoot per country thus approximately 6 days) File organizing and uploading (1 day) Deliverables Plan of action and shooting schedule Video one: before start of concrete interventions Content capture for pre-identified sites Interviews with communities Interviews with 2-4 stakeholders B-roll All useable footage, photography and soft copies of consent forms to be delivered to Habitat for Humanity (Digitally) The hard copies of the consent forms will also be submitted to the team Timeframe One week prior to shoot Exact day/month will depend on the content being captured in both Côte dIvoire and Ghana. Timing specifics will be worked out with the selected Consultant, with a priority within the months of February and March 2025. To be delivered within one week of finalizing content capture Duty station/location It is strongly recommended and preferred that the Consultant should be based in one of the two duty stations (Côte dIvoire or Ghana). He or she will undertake this work in Côte dIvoire and Ghana with travel to project sites as required to film, photograph and conduct interviews. (Home based consultants with planned travel to the respective location for the shoot may also be considered) The exact location details are Côte dIvoire: Grand Bassam (Quartier France, Azuretti, Vitre 2 and Mondoukou) and Jacqueville (Grand Jack, Tiémien, Tefredji, Taboth, Attoutou B and Koko); Ghana: Ada East (Kewunor, Azizanya), Anloga (Whuti, Dzita, Woe, Lagbati, Lashibi and Agbledomi) and Ada West (Wokumagbey, Akplabanya and Goi) On ground transport and other travel related costs will be covered by the consultants and should be factored into the financial proposal and be outlined accordingly Profile/qualifications of consultant For this assignment, Habitat for Humanity International requires a consultant with the following experiences and technical capacity: 5+ years experience conducting professional-level videography and photography service. Previous experience in documenting activities carried out by development organizations will be an advantage. Experience working amongst government officials and/or vulnerable populations Ability to operate under strict time limits and apply high production and technical standards. Experience conducting video interviews Familiar with informed consent and committed to following Habitat for Humanitys consent policy for videography and photography Ability to provide own filming/photography equipment, including professional cameras and audio equipment Ability to communicate and conduct interviews in French and English (including translating the interviews in English) How to apply Application Process Proposals should be submitted by email to: afrprocurement@habitat.org .
