Over The Last 12 Months, Significant Infrastructure Investment From Welsh Government Has Helped To Develop A Synthetic Chemistry Space Within The Centre For Nanohealth (Cnh) Within Swansea University’S Singleton Park Campus, To Supplement Nanoparticle Work. Part Of This Work Included The Use Of A Lyophiliser And Rotary Evaporator, Instrumentation That Uses Extremes Of Temperature To Remove Aqueous Or Organic Solvents (-100 Degrees Celsius And +60-+140 Degrees Celsius) And Whilst This Equipment Is Suitable For The Fully Synthetic Works, The Environments Are Too Harsh To Handle Biological Samples, Causing A Deficit In The Capacity To Handle Biological Materials, Including But Not Limited To, Evs, Proteins, Dna, Rna And Mimics. The Vacuum Concentrator Being Procured Is Essential For Solvent Swapping During Fabrication Processes, Such As Nanomedicines And This Equipment Will Fill The Deficit Of Sample Solvent Management Alongside The Rotary Evaporator And Lyophiliser Mentioned Above. External Funding Of Gbp £30,000 (Vat Exempt Due To The Medical Research Nature Of The Equipment) Has Been Granted From The Higher Education Research Council (Herc) Capital - Ecr Fund, Who Stipulate That The Equipment Is Delivered By 31St March 2025. The Purchase Of This Equipment Will Facilitate Some Release Of The Current Bottleneck In Fabrication Due To The Harsh Environments In Sample Preparation And Biological Degradation, Which Is Limiting The Scope Of Research And Use By The Wider Faculty.
