In This Project We Set Out To Test An Mrna-Based Complex That Can Be Deployed By Either Intramuscular Injection Or Directly To The Lung Via Nebulisation, As A Vaccination Strategy Against Sars-Cov-2 (Covid-19) Respiratory Virus. Preliminary Testing For Antigen Expression And Immune Response In A Mouse Or Hamster Model Is Ongoing At University Of Galway. Route Of Delivery For Vaccination Will Also Be Investigated, Using The Current Gold Standard Approach Of Intramuscular Injection As Well As The More Novel But Likely More Potent Delivery To Mucosal Surfaces Via Vibrating Mesh Nebulisation. To Date, Multiple Types Of Sars-Cov-2 Vaccines, Such As Inactivated Vaccines, Protein Subunit Vaccines, Viral-Vectored Vaccines, And Mrna Vaccines Have Been Approved.
