The Residential Development From The 1960S Is Located On A Slight Slope On The Main Road Between Basel And The Village Center Of Oberwil. The Four Identical Point Buildings Are Embedded In The Park-Like Area Following The Terrain In A Southeasterly Orientation. The Plot Is Accessible Via The District Streets Bienenstrasse And Fürstenrein. The Central Piazza With A Playground Forms The Focal Point Of The Settlements Open Space Design. The Buildings Are Constructed Of Solid Construction And Each Have Balconies At Three Corners. The Ceiling Panels, Together With The Balcony Parapets, Were Cast In In-Situ Concrete. The Insufficient Concrete Covering Of The Parapets Has Led To Corrosion Of The Reinforcing Bars. This Has Caused The Concrete To Spall In Various Places. The Renovation Concept Envisages Separating The Existing Concrete Parapets From The Ceiling Panels And Replacing Them With A Clad Metal Structure. In Addition, The Balconies Are Sealed Using Filler And Provided With Gutters And Downpipes. In Order To Improve The Visibility Of House Entrances That Are Sunk Into The Ground, They Are Provided With Painted Corrugated Strip Profiles.
