Laboratory, Optical And Precision Equipments (Excl. Glasses) – Helium-Badkryostat Für Rastersondenmikroskop. The Institute For Functional Matter At The University Of Stuttgart Conducts Basic Research On Atomic And Molecular Structures On Surfaces And, Among Other Things, Researches Their Ultrafast Dynamics Using Specially Developed Scanning Probe Microscopes. For This Purpose, The Institute Needs A Helium Bath Cryostat. The Cryostat Must Accommodate A Scanning Probe Microscope (Spm) Developed At The Institute. The Instrument Area In Which The Spm Is Inserted Must Reach Cryogenic Temperatures (T < 2.0 K) And Must Be Able To Generate A Strong Magnetic Field (B 5 T Or More) In The Area Of The Spm. The Instrument Section Must Be Fully Ultrahigh Vacuum Compatible And Capable Of Being Directly Connected To An Ultrahigh Vacuum Chamber, Allowing Sample And Tip Exchange Without Having To Vent The Cryostat. The Device Is Intended To Carry Out Atomically Resolved, Ultrafast Pump-Sample Spectroscopy. This Requires An Optical Access Through Which The Sample Can Be Excited During The Measurement At The Lowest Temperature Using Ultra-Short-Term Laser Pulses. The Entire Cryostat Must Be Low-Vibration And Specifically Designed For Use With A Scanning Tunneling Microscope.
