Research And Experimental Development Services – Qi-Trasico. The Potential Of Quantum Information Technologies Is One Of The Fundamental And Groundbreaking Skills Of The Future. There Is An Opportunity To Revolutionize Key Industries With The Resulting Performance. Among All Technologies, Quantum Computers Represent A Strategic, Future-Relevant And Currently Almost Exponentially Growing Area Of Research And Development, For Which The Decisive Course Is Now Being Set On The National And International Stage. In Order To Advance Its Development, The Quantum Computing Initiative Of The German Aerospace Center (Dlr) Involves Partners From Industry, Business And Research. In This Way, Dlr Can Procure And Operate Quantum Computers, Make Them Usable For Relevant Applications And Further Develop Their Own Skills. The “Quantum-Inspired Traffic Signal Control” (Qi-Trasico) Project Is One Of The Projects From The Quantum Computing Initiative And Is Led By The Dlr Institute Of Transportation Systems Technology. The Volume Of Traffic On Our Roads Is Constantly Increasing, Combined With More And More Traffic Jams, Waiting Times And Environmental Pollution. Since Expanding The Road Infrastructure Is Not Effective In Solving The Problem, The Main Consideration Is Optimizing Traffic Control. The Control Of Traffic Lights (Lsa For Short) Has A Decisive Influence On Traffic Quality. The Challenge Lies In The Live Optimization Of Entire Road Networks With A Large Number Of Traffic Lights. Optimization Approaches For Network-Wide Controls Are Known, But So Far They Have Usually Not Been Able To Be Carried Out In Real Time With Sufficient Quality. The Reason For This Lies In The Limited Computing Power Of Available Traffic Computers. The Future Application Of Quantum Computing Offers Completely New Possibilities. In This Way, A Large Number Of Different Switching Variants For Each Traffic Signal System Can Be Calculated And Tested In Real Time Within A Solution Space. The Optimum Can Then Be Determined And Switched Live On The Traffic Lights. The Use Of Quantum Computing To Optimize Traffic Control Has Not Yet Been Tested In Practice. Todays Transport Infrastructure Is Not Yet Compatible With Innovative Hardware And Software Solutions From Quantum Computing. This Is Where The Qi-Trasico Project Should Start. In A Prototype Implementation, Quantum-Inspired Computing Technology Will Be Coupled With Real Traffic Lights In A Test Field And Provide Real-Time Control. The Aim Is To Demonstrate The Technical Feasibility And The Practical Usability Of Quantum Computing For Applications In The Area Of Traffic Optimization. Quantum Computing Is Now Becoming The Focus Of Municipalities And Infrastructure Operators, With The Option Of Using It To Solve Future Mobility Optimization And Automation Tasks. The Dlr I
