The Busselton Jetty Is A Major Tourist Site For The South West Region Of Western Australia. Beaches Adjacent To The Jetty Have Been Stabilised For 15 Years By A Series Of Low-Profile Geotextile Sand Container (Gsc) Groynes, And Foreshore Assets Are Protected By A Series Of Seawalls. However, Beaches Up To 2,000M West Of The Jetty To The Vasse Drain Outlet Has Been Subject To Ongoing Erosion In Recent Years.The West Busselton Coastline From Gale St, 600M West Of The Jetty, To King St, 1400M West Of The Jetty Has Been Subject To Storm Erosion In Recent Years. This Is A 900M Sandy Beach With Sandy Foredunes And Narrow Setbacks To A Large Beach Carpark And Geographe Bay Rd. The City Of Busselton Received Funding In 2023 Under The Australian Governments Coastal And Estuarine Risk Mitigation Program (Cermp) To Undertake These Coastal Stabilisation Works.The 600M Sandy Beach From King St To The Vasse Drain Outlet, 200M West Of The Jetty, Has Been Subject To Severe Coastal Erosion Impacts In Recent Years Including Failure Of A Rock Seawall, Collapse Of The Geographe Bay Yacht Club (Gbyc) Concrete Boat Ramp That Was Acting As A Local Coastal Stabilisation Structure, Erosion Of The Karate Club Beach Carpark And Deflation Of Coastal Dunes At Margaret St.
