Experimental Development Services – 2477/ Lf16 -Fe 50.0401/2024 Improvement Of The Seamless 3D Wind Forecast Near Airports And European Flight Routes. The Service To Be Provided Is Divided Into Four Work Packages. The First Work Package (Wp 1, Section 3.1) Is About Combining Existing Observation Data From Different Sources And Bringing Them Into A Uniform Data Format. In Addition To The Data That Can Be Provided By The Dwd, “Crowd” Data Should Also Be Taken Into Account, The Development Of Which Is The Responsibility Of The Contractor (Contractor). In The Second Work Package (Wp 2 Section 3.2), High-Resolution And Completely Filled Three-Dimensional (3D) Wind Fields Of The Troposphere, Including The Boundary Layer, Are To Be Created From The Very Incomplete Observations Using Variation Analysis And Basic Fluid Mechanics Constraints For A Period Of One Year . In The Third Work Package (Wp 3, Section 3.3), A Method Is To Be Developed That Enables A Short-Term Forecast Of 0-6 Hours Based On The 3D Wind Fields Created In Wp 2. The First Forecast Horizon (0-2H) Should Be Based On Observation-Based Nowcasting, While Forecasts From Weather Modeling Should Be Used For The Forecast Horizon Of 2-6 Hours. The Weather Model Forecasts Are Provided By The Dwd. The Aim Is To Implement A Transition To The Weather Model That Is As “Break-Free” As Possible. The Last Work Package (Wp 4, Section 3.4) Includes Detailed Documentation Of The Methods And Support For The Dwd In Implementing The Methods.
