Central Highlands Regional Council (Chrc) Is Seeking Services Of Suitably Qualified Civil Engineering Contractors For Flood Damage Repairs To The Capella Weir. Council Has A Rock Weir On Capella Creek Which Impounds Water When There Is A Flood Event. The Water From The Impound Is Then Diverted To The Harvest Pumpstation Through A Channel. During The Last Rainfall Season The Weir Was Damaged By Floods Resulting In Water Escaping From The Impound Rather Than Diverting Through The Channel To The Pumpstation.The Other Extraction Point From The Capella Creek Is Located Between The Gregory Highway Bridge And The Railway Bridge. A Submersible Pump Draws Water From A Sump Located In The Banks Of The Creek And Over Time The Sump Area Has Silted Up Impacting Water Harvesting Operations. Council’S Objectives With The Project Are: 1)Repair And Reinstatement Of The Weir. 2)Desilting Of The Harvest Channel To Ensure It Grades Towards The Pump Sump. 3)Desilting Of The Pump Intake Point
