There Are Already Many Leisure Boats Without A Known Owner Both On Municipal Land And With Non-Profit Associations (Such As Boat Clubs). Today, There May Be Up To 400,000 Boats Approaching Their Best Before Date And Up To 35,000 Already Abandoned Recreational Boats. Recreational Boats That Are Not Disposed Of And Recycled Can Contribute To Further Littering And Pollution Of Nature And Water Environments. Many Of The Boats Are Over 40 Years Old And Therefore Nearing The Expected End Of Their Useful Lives. Most Are Plastic Boats That Have Been Dumped Or Are At Risk Of Being Dumped In Nature.
