Background ASSABIL Association Culture for All is implementing the project Women and Youth Leading in War and Peace: Storytelling and Media for Community Resilience in Lebanon, with support from the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI). The project aims to strengthen the leadership, communication, storytelling, emergency response, and peacebuilding capacities of women and youth, including displaced communities. As part of the project, ASSABIL will produce six short documentary films documenting experiences of displacement, womens and youth leadership, community resilience, and peacebuilding initiatives in Lebanon. 2. Objective of the Assignment ASSABIL is seeking an experienced Documentary Filmmaker to conceptualize, film, edit, and deliver six short documentary films based on stories and experiences identified through the project. The documentaries should use a human-centered and respectful storytelling approach, highlighting participants experiences, resilience, leadership, and contributions to their communities. 3. Scope of Work The selected filmmaker will: Coordinate with the ASSABIL project team to identify and develop six documentary stories. Develop the concept and narrative approach for each film. Prepare and conduct interviews with selected participants. Film interviews, activities, locations, and relevant contextual footage. Undertake the full editing and post-production process. Include titles, subtitles, credits, logos, and donor visibility requirements as requested by ASSABIL. Produce short extracts/trailers suitable for social media. Incorporate ASSABILs feedback and deliver final approved versions. Provide ASSABIL with the final films and relevant raw footage. 4. Safeguarding and Ethical Storytelling Considering the sensitive nature of stories related to war and displacement, the filmmaker must apply informed consent, confidentiality, safeguarding, and Do No Harm principles throughout the production process. Participants dignity, privacy, psychological safety, and right to decide what they wish to share must be respected at all times. 5. Deliverables Production plan and proposed narrative approach. Six professionally produced short documentary films. Subtitled versions as required by ASSABIL. Short promotional extracts/trailers for social media. Final high-resolution and web-ready versions. Relevant raw footage. The exact duration of each documentary will be agreed upon with ASSABIL during the production planning phase. 6. Required Qualifications Applicants should have: Proven experience in documentary filmmaking and audiovisual production. Strong filming, interviewing, sound recording, editing, and post-production skills. A strong portfolio of relevant documentary or human-interest productions. Experience working with NGOs, communities, women, youth, displaced populations, or humanitarian/social projects is an asset. Understanding of ethical storytelling, informed consent, safeguarding, and Do No Harm principles. Fluency in Arabic; English is an asset.
