Sep 2026 Intervention Sector(S): Gender Issues Remuneration Range: 2000 To 3000 (Usd) Duration Of Contract: 3 Months (Renewable Based On Funds And Performance) Background And Overview This Consultancy Is Part Of A Joint Collaboration Between The National Mental Health Programme (Nmhp) At The Ministry Of Public Health (Moph), Abaad Resource Center For Gender Equality, And The United Nations Democracy Fund (Undef). Role Purpose The Media And Communication Officer Will Support The Nmhp Media And Communication Unit In Planning, Developing, Coordinating, Implementing, And Monitoring Communication Activities Across Digital, Media, Public Information, And Stakeholder Channels. The Position Will Focus On Developing High-Quality Content, Including Researching, Drafting, Adapting, Editing, And Proofreading Communication Materials In Arabic And English. The Officer Will Help Ensure That Nmhp Communications Are Accurate, Accessible, Evidence-Based, Recovery-Oriented, Rights-Based, Culturally Sensitive, And Aligned With The Communication Standards Of The Moph And Nmhp, As Well As Relevant International Guidance. The Role Will Primarily Focus On Editorial Work, Content Development, And Communication. The Officer Will Coordinate Closely With The Head Of The Media And Communication Unit, Nmhp Technical Teams, Graphic Designers, Multimedia Providers, Implementing Partners, Media Outlets, And Other Stakeholders. This Will Include Preparing Content Briefs And Reviewing Communication Outputs To Ensure Quality, Consistency, And Suitability. Responsibilities And Tasks 1. Content Development And Editorial Support Contribute To The Development And Implementation Of Nmhp Communication Plans, Editorial Priorities, Campaign Concepts, And Content Calendars In Coordination With The Media And Communication Coordinator. Research, Draft, Adapt, Edit, And Proofread Communication Materials In Arabic And English, Including Social Media Content, Website Materials, Newsletters, Publications, Press Releases, Presentations, Scripts, And Other Communication Products. Translate And Adapt Content Between Arabic And English, Ensuring Clear, Culturally Appropriate, And Audience-Friendly Language Consistent With Nmhp Terminology And Tone Of Voice. Coordinate With Nmhp Technical Colleagues To Verify Information And Translate Complex Mental Health And Public Health Topics Into Clear And Accessible Content. Apply Sensitive And Non-Stigmatizing Language When Communicating About Mental Health, Suicide Prevention, Self-Harm, Emergencies, Psychosocial Distress, And Other Sensitive Topics. Prepare Content And Creative Briefs For Designers, Videographers, Agencies, And Other Service Providers, And Review Draft Outputs For Content Quality, Messaging, Branding, And Visibility Requirements. Support The Consistent Use And Improvement Of Nmhp Editorial References, Approved Terminology, Templates, Key Messages, And Communication Guidance. 2. Digital Communication And Social Media Management Support The Day-To-Day Management Of Nmhp Communication Platforms, Including Social Media Pages And The Website, In Line With Approved Procedures And Access Arrangements. Coordinate The Development Of Monthly Content Calendars, Follow Up On Content Production And Approvals, And Support Timely Publication Across Relevant Channels. Draft Captions, Platform-Specific Content, Calls To Action, Community Messages, And Other Digital Materials Adapted To Each Platform. Support Community Management By Monitoring Comments And Messages, Identifying Issues Requiring Follow-Up Or Referral, And Coordinating Approved Responses With Relevant Nmhp Colleagues. Stay Informed About Digital Communication Practices, Platform Developments, And Relevant Social Media Trends, And Propose Appropriate Adaptations While Maintaining Institutional, Ethical, And Mental Health Communication Standards. Monitor Online Engagement And Digital Performance, Track Relevant Kpis, Analyze Insights, And Provide Recommendations To Improve Content Reach, Engagement, Accessibility, And Relevance. Coordinate Routine Website Updates And Online Resources With Relevant Technical Or It Focal Points, As Needed. 3. Campaigns And Public Awareness Support The Planning And Implementation Of National Awareness Campaigns And Communication Activities Related To Mental Health Promotion, Stigma Reduction, Suicide Prevention, Service Awareness, And Other Nmhp Priorities. Contribute To Campaign Messaging, Audience Segmentation, Channel Selection, Content Planning, Dissemination, Partner Coordination, And Calls To Action. Support Rapid Communication And Public Information Needs During Emergencies Or Periods Of Heightened Public Concern, In Coordination With The Media And Communication Unit And Relevant Technical Teams. Ensure That Partner And Donor Visibility Requirements Are Applied Appropriately And Consistently Across Communication Materials, In Line With Approved Agreements And Nmhp Procedures. 4. Media Relations And Public Information Support Media Relations For Nmhp Initiatives, Campaigns, Events, Services, And Announcements, Including Coordination With Media Outlets And Relevant Partners. Draft Press Releases, Media Advisories, Media Pitches, Interview Briefs, Key Messages, Q&As, Talking Points, Spokesperson Notes, And Other Public Information Materials As Required. Coordinate And Route Media Inquiries Through The Appropriate Nmhp Approval Process And Support Spokesperson Preparation For Interviews And Public Appearances. Maintain Relevant Media Contact Lists And Support Proactive Outreach To Media Outlets, When Appropriate. Monitor Local Media Coverage Related To Nmhp And Mental Health, Compile Relevant Coverage, Identify Communication Opportunities Or Risks, And Report Significant Issues To The Media And Communication Coordinator. 5. Events And Multimedia Coordination Provide Communication And Media Support For Nmhp Events, Workshops, Launches, Conferences, And Public Activities, Including Pre-Event Communication, On-Site Coverage, Media Coordination, And Post-Event Content. Coordinate The Collection Of Photographs And Video Footage From Programme Activities And Liaise With Designers, Photographers, Videographers, And Service Providers As Needed. Support The Appropriate Use Of Consent, Credits, Captions, And Contextual Information When Photographs, Videos, Testimonies, Or Personal Stories Are Used In Communication Materials. 6. Coordination, Quality Assurance, And Communication Procedures Coordinate With Nmhp Team Members, Partners, Agencies, Consultants, Communication Companies, And Other Internal And External Stakeholders On Communication Activities. Follow Up On Communication Deliverables, Deadlines, Approvals, And Feedback To Support An Efficient Workflow From Content Development And Technical Review To Design, Approval, And Publication. Review Communication Materials Produced Internally Or By Partners When Nmhp Content, Branding, Services, Or Visibility Are Involved, And Flag Issues Requiring Technical Or Managerial Review. Monitoring, Documentation, And Knowledge Management Maintain An Organized Communication Archive Of Approved Content, Publications, Media Coverage, Photographs, Videos, Campaign Materials, And Other Relevant Communication Assets. Contribute Communication Data, Activity Summaries, Outputs, And Performance Indicators To Internal Reports, Donor Reports, Presentations, And Planning Exercises. Perform Other Communication-Related Tasks Required To Support The Nmhp Media And Communication Unit, In Coordination With The Head Of The Media And Communication Unit And Programme Management. Required Qualifications, Experience, And Skills Masters Degree In Health Communication, Media, Communication, Or A Related Field. A Bachelors Degree Combined With Additional Relevant Professional Experience May Be Considered. At Least Five (5) Years Of Relevant Professional Experience In Media, Communication, Content Development, Public Information, Or A Related Field. Excellent Creative, Editorial, And Technical Writing, Editing, And Proofreading Skills, With The Ability To Develop Clear And Engaging Content For Different Audiences And Communication Channels. Excellent Spoken And Written Arabic And English, With The Ability To Adapt Content Between Both Languages. Knowledge Of Additional Languages Or Dialects Is An Advantage. Strong Knowledge Of Social Media Content Development, Platform Management, Community Management, And Digital Communication Practices.
