Following intensive training in Constructive Journalism and Mobile Journalism, participating youth are moving into the practical production phase, where they will develop and produce video reports documenting selected UNDP activities. The mentor will provide hands-on technical and editorial guidance throughout the production process, helping participants translate the skills acquired during the training into professional, ethical, and engaging video reports. Key Responsibilities The selected mentor will work closely with the youth participants and Dawaer project team to: Mentor youth throughout the planning, filming, and production of their video reports. Support participants in developing clear story angles, narratives, interview questions, and filming plans. Provide practical guidance on smartphone filming, framing, lighting, sound recording, interviewing, and visual storytelling. Accompany and guide participants during selected field-filming assignments when required. Provide technical troubleshooting and practical recommendations during production. Review footage and rough cuts and provide constructive editorial and technical feedback. Ensure that content respects informed consent, dignity, privacy, safeguarding, and responsible media practices. Coordinate regularly with the Dawaer project team regarding participant progress, production challenges, and required follow-up. Support participants in completing their video reports according to the agreed production standards and deadlines. Expected Deliverables The mentor is expected to contribute to the successful production of the youth-led video reports during Phase 2, including: Individual and/or team mentoring sessions. Required Qualifications and Experience Applicants should demonstrate: Proven experience in Mobile Journalism, video journalism, multimedia production, filmmaking, or digital storytelling. Strong practical experience in smartphone-based filming and video production. Experience in mentoring, coaching, or training youth and emerging journalists/media practitioners. Strong understanding of interviewing, visual storytelling, sound, composition, and mobile video editing. Knowledge of constructive journalism, ethical journalism, and conflict-sensitive reporting is highly desirable. Ability to provide clear, practical, and constructive feedback to young participants. Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of youth and in field-production environments. Previous experience working on projects with NGOs, media organizations, development actors, or UN agencies is considered an advantage.
