Notice Of Intent To Award A Contract Notice Is Hereby Given That The City Of Abbotsford (The “City”) Is Contemplating Making A Direct Award Toverkada Inc.(The “Service Provider”) For The Following: Mobile Camera Trailer The Contract Will Be For A One-Time Purchase Of Mobile Camera Trailer For$126,000.00Cad,Exclusive Of Applicable Taxes. Background Abbotsford Continues To Experience Incidents Of Violence, Including Stranger Assaults, Robbery Series, Retaliatory Violence Associated With The Ongoing British Columbia Gang Conflict, And Other Criminal Offences That Present Public Safety Concerns. These Incidents Frequently Occur In Locations Where Fixed Cctv Infrastructure Is Limited Or Unavailable, Resulting In An Increased Reliance On Privately Owned Surveillance Systems To Obtain Critical Evidentiary Footage. Abbotsford Police Departments (“Abbypd”) Existing Mobile Camera Trailer Is Approximately 12 Years Old. Due To The Age And Condition Of The Equipment, Repair Is Not Considered A Viable Option. A Mobile Camera Trailer Provides The Ability To Rapidly Deploy Video Surveillance Resources To Emerging Crime Hotspots, Special Events (I.E. The Airshow), And Other Priority Locations. The System Supports Investigators By Collecting Critical Video Evidence, Assisting With Identifying Suspects And Vehicles, And Deterring Criminal Activity And Enhancing Intelligence-Led Policing Initiatives. Given Its Operational Value, Abbypds Current Mobile Camera Trailer Has Been Deployed On A Near Continuous Basis Over The Past Two Years. In February 2026, Abbypd Completed A Competitive Procurement Process For The Purchase Of Six Public Safety Cameras. Verkada Inc. Was Selected Based On Its Ability To Provide Cloud-Based Video Security Services With Integration Into Axons Digital Evidence Management System. Scope Of Services Or Specifications The Supply And Commissioning Of A Verkada Surveillance Trailer For The Abbotsford Police Department. This Includes The Installation And Configuration Of Advanced Surveillance Equipment To Support Mobile Deployments. Rationale For Contemplating A Direct Award The City Is Contemplating A Direct Award With The Supplier For The Following Reasons: With The Objectives Of Public Security And Safety And The Protection Of Human, Animal And Plant Life And Health, It Is Important That The Provision Of Services Be Expedited. Abbypd Is Therefore Seeking To Replace Its Existing Mobile Public Safety Camera Trailer With A Verkada-Manufactured And Supplied Solution. Procuring A Verkada Mobile Camera Trailer Will Ensure Compatibility With The Public Safety Cameras Acquired Earlier This Year And Will Enable All Devices To Operate Within A Single Integrated Ecosystem. In Addition, Verkadas Platform Provides Functionality Through A Secure Mobile Application That Can Be Installed On Abbypd-Issued Mobile Devices. This Capability Allows Authorized Personnel To Access Camera Feeds, System Alerts, And Other Operational Features Directly Through The Verkada Cloud Platform, Enhancing Situational Awareness And Operational Responsiveness.
