Tenders are invited for Hiring an External Trainer to Deliver Advanced Sustainable Beekeeping Training under the Planbee Project Service Location: Ramallah Subject: Hiring an External Trainer to Deliver Advanced Sustainable Beekeeping Training under the PLANBEE Project Deadline for submission of proposals: 6/8/2026 Background: Asala is a leading Palestinian association established in 1997 that specializes in supporting the success of women micro-entrepreneurs by breaking down social and financial barriers through business training, capacity building, marketing, advocacy, and lobbying. Asala aims to provide Palestinian women with the necessary skills and opportunities to contribute effectively to advancing their society, based on equal rights and access to resources and markets. Asala provides comprehensive and needs-based services to women entrepreneurs in the West Bank and Gaza Strip along three strategic tracks, namely: Advocacy and lobbying for womens economic and social rights Capacity building for women entrepreneurs Facilitating access to local, regional, and global markets for women entrepreneurs. The Palestinian Businesswomens Association ASALA is implementing the project Promoting Local Apiary Networks and Bee Entrepreneurial Excellence (PLANBEE), co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme. The project aims to support sustainable rural development across the Mediterranean region by promoting the economic and environmental potential of beekeeping. As part of Output 3.2 Sustainable Beekeeping at an Advanced Level, ASALA aims to strengthen the technical capacities of experienced beekeepers by promoting environmentally responsible, climate-smart, and economically viable beekeeping practices. The training will focus on advanced topics including sustainable hive management, disease and pest management, conservation of locally adapted bee populations, climate resilience, and the development of value-added bee products. The objective: The objective of this assignment is to recruit a qualified external trainer to design and deliver an advanced-level beekeeping training program under Output 3.2 Sustainable Beekeeping at an Advanced Level of the PLANBEE project. The training aims to strengthen the technical capacities of experienced beekeepers in sustainable, environmentally responsible, and economically viable beekeeping practices adapted to the Palestinian context. The training will focus on advanced topics including sustainable disease and pest management, local bee adaptation and genetic diversity, climate-smart and environmentally responsible beekeeping practices, and the development of value-added bee products beyond honey production. Through practical and participatory learning approaches, the trainer will support participants in enhancing their skills and applying innovative and sustainable practices within their apiaries. Scope of Services / Tasks The external trainer will be responsible for: Reviewing the project-provided Output 3.2 Sustainable Beekeeping at an Advanced Level technical guidelines and other relevant project documents to ensure alignment with PLANBEE objectives and requirements. Developing and adapting advanced-level training content and materials based on the identified needs of participants and the specific context of the project. Preparing comprehensive training materials, including presentations, practical exercises, case studies, and other supporting learning resources. Delivering a two-day advanced sustainable beekeeping training workshop (16 training hours) using participatory, interactive, and practice-oriented training methodologies. Facilitating practical demonstrations, technical discussions, and knowledge exchange sessions covering key areas such as sustainable disease and pest management, local bee adaptation and genetics, climate-smart beekeeping practices, and the development of value-added bee products. Supporting ASALA in the preparation of the training agenda, technical arrangements, and other requirements necessary for the effective implementation of the training. Collecting participants feedback and contributing to the documentation of training results, lessons learned, and key outcomes. Submitting all required training materials, attendance sheets, evaluation results, and relevant implementation documentation to ASALA upon completion of the assignment. Expected Deliverables: Inception coordination meeting with Asala. Training plan and agenda. Finalized training materials (PowerPoint and supporting tools). Delivery of a 2-day / 16-hour beginner-level training workshop. Pre- and post-training assessment results and evaluation summary. Attendance sheets and supporting documentation. Brief post-training report (including key findings, challenges, and recommendations). Indicative Timeline of the Trainers Work Suggested Qualifications and Profile: The external trainer should meet the following minimum qualifications and requirements: Bachelors degree in agriculture, Beekeeping, Animal Production, Environmental Sciences, Rural Development, or a related field. A higher academic qualification or specialized certification in apiculture will be considered an asset. Minimum 5 years of professional experience in beekeeping, apiculture training, or related technical fields. Proven experience in delivering technical training and capacity-building activities for beekeepers, preferably at an advanced level. Strong technical knowledge of sustainable beekeeping practices, including disease and pest management, bee genetics and local adaptation, climate-smart beekeeping, and value-added bee product development. Practical experience in managing apiaries and applying environmentally responsible beekeeping methods. Experience in developing training materials and delivering participatory, practice-oriented learning sessions. Familiarity with the Palestinian beekeeping sector and local production conditions is highly desirable. Previous experience working with international development projects or donor-funded programmes is an asset. Strong communication, facilitation, and reporting skills. Fluency in Arabic is required; good command of English is an advantage. Reporting Line and Coordination The trainer will work under the supervision of the Palestinian Businesswomen Association - Asala and in close coordination with the project team. All deliverables will be submitted to Asala for review and approval. Place of Performance Preparatory work may be conducted remotely. The training workshop will be delivered in Palestine at a venue identified by Asala. Duration and Level of Effort The assignment will be implemented in August - September 2026. The exact level of effort will be defined by Asala in line with budget availability and procurement procedures. Ownership and Use of Materials All training materials developed under this assignment will remain the property of Asala for non-commercial project use, reporting, and dissemination purposes, in line with PLANBEE visibility requirements.
