Refurbishment Work – Restoration And Integration Of New Uses In The West And East Venetian Youth Complex Of Heracleius Crete. The Project Includes The Restoration And Return To Use Of The West And East Youth Complex In Heraklion. The Building Complex Is Protected In Accordance With The Proclamation Included In The 21-2-1947 Government Gazette, By Which The Existing Remains Of The Venetian Youths Were Declared As Historically Preserved Monuments, Among Other Medieval Monuments Of The City Of Heraklion, Crete (Government Gazette 45/A/18-3-1947). The Western Naves Consist Of Four Vaulted Spaces Arranged In A Row And Are Part Of The Complex Of The Old Naves (Arsenali Vecchi) Built In 1556. A Short Distance West Of Them Is The So-Called Western Warehouse. A Vaulted Space Is Preserved From The Eastern Neoria (Arsenali Nuovi And Nuovissimi) Built In 1608. Their Complex Includes The Salt Warehouse, A One-Room Vaulted Building And The Zane Tank, Consisting Of Two Vaulted Spaces. In Western Neoria, Masonry Strengthening Works (Grouts, Fillings), Grouting, Stone Cleaning And Maintenance, Coating Maintenance, New Roof Coating And Dealing With Humidity With The Construction Of A Drainage System Are Foreseen. Also, The Inclusion Of New Constructions, I.E. Glazing, Showcases, Reception Counter, Amphitheater, Lighting Masts And New Electro-Mechanical Installations As Well As New Flooring Is Foreseen. In The West Warehouse, Masonry Strengthening Works (Grouting, Additions, Reconstructions), Grouting, Reconstruction Of The Damaged Dome And Formation Of A Passable Roof Over It Are Foreseen. It Is Also Planned To Include New Constructions, I.E. Frames, Benches And Equipment, Partitions And Sanitary Facilities, With A New Electromechanical Installation And Flooring. In The East New Buildings, Work To Strengthen The Masonry And The Dome (Grouts, Fillings, Tractors), Grouting, Stone Cleaning And Maintenance, Plastering Maintenance, New Covering Of The Roof, Configuration Of The Floor In Order To Ensure Access To The Adjacent Zane Tank, Railings, Parapets, Flooring And Lighting Are Planned. In The Zane Reservoir, Work Is Planned To Strengthen The Masonry And Domes (Grouts, Fillings), Grouting, Cleaning And Maintenance Of Stones, Maintenance Of Coatings, Reconstruction Of The Coating Of The Domes. Also, The Inclusion Of New Constructions, I.E. Glazing, Corridors, Staircases, Docks, Theater, Sanitary Facilities, As Well As New Electromechanical Facilities Is Foreseen. In The Salt Warehouse, Masonry Strengthening Works (Grouts, Fillings, Tractors), Grouting, Stone Cleaning And Maintenance, Coating Maintenance, New Covering Of The Roof And Repair Of The Parapet Are Foreseen. The Construction Of Wooden Interior Equipment And Metal Structures For The Operation Of The Space For Periodical Exhibitions Is Also Planned, As Well As A New Electromechanical Installation With An Elevator For The Disabled And Flooring.
