Tittelospars Region 1 - Proposal For Division Of Subregions . Description The Oslo-Paris Convention (Ospar) Is A Regional Maritime Agreement On The Conservation Of The Marine Environment In The North-East Atlantic. The Ospar Agreement Obliges The Parties To Prevent And Eliminate Pollution Of The Marine Area And Ensure The Preservation Of The Ecosystems And Biological Diversity Found There. Norway Signed The Ospar Agreement Together With 15 Other Parties (Including The Eu) With Connections To The North-East Atlantic In 1992. The Agreement Affects All Maritime Industries Operating In Ospars Area. Ospars Maritime Area In The North-East Atlantic Is Divided Into Five Regions, Where Norwegian Sea Areas Are Included In Regions I And Ii. Ospar Regularly Produces A Common Knowledge Base On The State Of The Environment In The North-East Atlantic And Compiles Environmental Status Reports To Ensure That The Contracting Parties Have A Common Knowledge Base On The State Of The Environment In The Five Regions. The Knowledge Can Be Used To, For Example, Propose Measures To Ensure Good Environmental Conditions. Ospars Region 1 (Called Arctic) Includes Both The Barents Sea And The Norwegian Sea From The Norwegian Side, As Well As The Sea Areas Outside Iceland, Greenland And Great Britain And Is A Large Region To Describe The Environmental Status Of, Including Both Human Activity, Environmental Conditions And Conditions. The Entire Region Is Referred To As Arctic Even Though The Region Also Includes Sea Areas That Are Not Considered Arctic Areas. Such A Large Region Means That Mentions Of Environmental Conditions And Conditions Are Coarsely Masked And Can Lead To Descriptions Of Norwegian Sea Areas Being Both Imprecise And Perhaps Even Incorrect. The Norwegian Environment Agency Therefore Needs To Be Able To Propose The Division Of Region 1 Into Smaller Assessment Units, As This Does Not Exist Today. These Proposals Must Be Scientifically Based And Describe How The Region Can Be Divided With The Intention Of Being Able To Give A Correct Picture Of The Environmental State And Conditions In Region 1. Proposals For Division Will Act As A Start For Discussing Further How The Region Should Best Be Divided Based On The Various Indicators That Are Reported On In The Marine Area.
