Expression of Interest for Analysis of Users Engagement with Generative AI Features within Search Engines. Description: This study aims to provide methodologically rigorous, empirical data on user engagement with generative AI features integrated into online search engines. The contractor will be expected to measure, through observational and experimental methods, how these features affect user behaviour, query reformulation, session duration, and time spent on AI-generated content relative to organic results. The study will further characterise users visual attention and information intake using eye-tracking or equivalent attention-measurement techniques, covering AI-generated answers, their citations, and surrounding organic results, and evaluate users trust in AI- generated content, their verification behaviour, and their ability to recognise such content. These effects will be examined across different Member States, languages and demographics - with particular attention to vulnerable groups - and across query categories of public interest.
