The Field Manager will coordinate field operations, supervise data collection teams, support access and logistics, and ensure that all fieldwork is implemented with strong attention to data quality, ethics, confidentiality, safeguarding, and Do No Harm. About STOOS Consulting STOOS Consulting is an international consulting firm specialized in Third-Party Monitoring, MEAL, research and assessments, evaluations, data collection, capacity building, conflict and gender analysis, market research, and economic empowerment studies. STOOS works with UN agencies, INGOs, donors, and development partners to provide practical and evidence-based findings that support better programming, accountability, and decision-making. Position Overview The Field Manager will support STOOS assignments in Guatemala by managing field teams and ensuring the smooth implementation of data collection activities. The role requires good understanding of the Guatemalan context, including rural and urban fieldwork, indigenous communities, migration dynamics, climate and disaster risks, food security and livelihoods, protection concerns, and access to basic services. The candidate should be able to work respectfully with diverse groups, including indigenous communities, women, youth, migrants, returnees, rural households, vulnerable families, and community leaders, depending on the assignment. Main Responsibilities Coordinate and supervise field data collection activities, including surveys, Key Informant Interviews, Focus Group Discussions, site visits, field observations, and community consultations. Prepare fieldwork plans, daily team schedules, logistics arrangements, and access coordination with relevant local actors. Supervise enumerators and field researchers, provide daily guidance, and ensure that data collection tools and instructions are followed correctly. Support coordination with local authorities, community leaders, NGOs, service providers, schools, health facilities, and other relevant stakeholders. Review submitted data and field notes to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability. Report daily progress, field challenges, access issues, and data quality concerns to the STOOS technical team. Ensure that all field activities respect informed consent, confidentiality, safeguarding, cultural sensitivity, and Do No Harm principles. Key Skills and Qualifications Candidates should have previous experience in field management, data collection supervision, research coordination, monitoring and evaluation, humanitarian assessments, or third-party monitoring in Guatemala. Good knowledge of the Guatemalan local context is required, especially community dynamics, local administrative structures, access considerations, and humanitarian/development actors. Strong experience supervising enumerators, facilitators, data collectors, or field researchers is highly desirable. Experience working on assignments related to migration, displacement, livelihoods, food security, protection, education, health, WASH, resilience, climate risks, gender, or community development is an asset. Experience using digital data collection tools such as KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO, CommCare, or similar platforms is preferred. Language Skills Fluency in Spanish is required. Good working knowledge of English is an asset for communication with international teams and reviewing project documents. Knowledge of one or more local languages, such as Kiche, Qeqchi, Kaqchikel, Mam, or other Mayan languages, is a strong advantage, especially for community-level fieldwork with indigenous communities.
