What We Are Looking For The GHI Academy is seeking an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) to develop an online self-paced course on Financial Management in Humanitarian Settings. The selected consultant will work closely with the GHI Academy eLearning team to develop high-quality, evidence-based course content aligned with learning principles and international humanitarian standards. We are seeking a highly qualified expert with: - Minimum of 15 years of progressive professional experience in financial management within humanitarian and/or development settings. - Extensive experience in senior leadership or management positions overseeing finance and grants management in humanitarian settings, including budgeting, donor compliance, financial reporting, financial risk management, and organizational financial governance. - Demonstrated experience working with international NGOs, UN agencies, humanitarian organizations, donors, or government institutions involved in humanitarian response. - Strong knowledge of financing mechanisms, donor regulations, grant lifecycle management, accountability frameworks, audit requirements, and financial compliance. - Experience managing funding from major humanitarian donors (e.g., UN agencies, ECHO, USAID/BHA, FCDO, GFFO, Global Fund, World Bank). - Excellent understanding of humanitarian principles, localization, accountability, and financial stewardship in emergency and protracted crisis contexts. - Experience developing or delivering professional training, university-level teaching, or capacity-building programs is highly desirable. - Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Humanitarian Studies, International Development, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CMA, CIMA) is considered an asset. - Excellent written and spoken English. Role and Responsibilities The selected SME will: - Develop the complete course syllabus, learning objectives, and module structure. - Prepare evidence-based, practical, and engaging course materials, including lectures, readings, assessments, case studies, activities, and additional learning resources using GHI Academy templates. - Ensure all content reflects current humanitarian best practices, international standards, and relevant literature. - Work collaboratively with the GHI Academy eLearning team throughout the instructional design and course development process. - Revise course materials based on instructional design and quality assurance feedback. - Review the final online course layout and provide content-related feedback during development. - Submit all deliverables according to the agreed project timeline.
