Project: Tender21721 - Ontario Medium Helicopter Aerial Wildland Fire Services . The Ministry Is Seeking The Provision Of Up To Fourteen (14) Medium Category Helicopters To Support Wildland Fire Suppression Activities Primarily In The Province Of Ontario, During Each Fire Season During The Term Of The Contract. Helicopters May Also Be Moved By The Ministry, At Its Option, To Other Provinces Or Territories Of Canada, Or To Other States In The United States Of America, As May Be Needed And Described In Greater Detail Herein. The Contemplated Contracts Will Be For The Provision Of Up To Fourteen (14) Medium Category Helicopters In Total, With One (1) Vendor Assigned To Each Main Base For Two (2) Years (2026 And 2027 Fire Seasons), With Options Exercisable By The Ministry To Extend The Term Of The Contract For Up To Two (2) Additional Terms Of Up To Two (2) Years Each. The Ministry Is Seeking Up To Fourteen (14) Medium Category Helicopters With The Following Criteria: Fourteen (14) Belly Tank Equipped Helicopters With Transport Canada Approved Supplemental Type Certificate (Stc) For The Belly Tank Equipment That Permits Carrying Of Passengers While In Use The Deliverables Are Required To Support The Ministry’S Annual Wildland Fire Suppression Operations, In Particular The Insertion And Extraction Of Wildland Fire Suppression Personnel And The Conducting Of Water-Bombing And Slinging Operations. Scope Of Work The Ministry Is The Lead Government Agency In Ontario Responsible For Protecting People, Property And Communities From Natural Hazards, Including Wildland (Forest) Fires. Wildland Fires Represent A Significant Threat To Public Safety, Communities, Critical Infrastructure, Timber Supply And Natural Resources Across The Province. The Deliverables Required Under This Rfb Will Directly Support The Ministry’S Wildland Fire Suppression Operations Within Ontario, And, When Necessary, In Other Canadian Jurisdictions Or Certain U.S. States Under Established Mutual Aid Agreements. Medium Category Belly Tank Equipped Helicopters Are A Critical Component Of The Ministry’S Initial Attack And Sustained Wildfire Response, Providing Rapid Movement Of Fire Crews And Equipment, Water Bombing Capability, And Essential Aerial Support For A Wide Range Of Wildland Fire Suppression Activities, Including The Transport Of Personnel And Supplies, Aerial Reconnaissance And Assessment, Hover Exit Operations, Aerial Detection Patrols, And Operations In Remote Or Rugged Environments; These Services Are Required At Up To Fourteen Ministry Designated Main Bases Across The Province, With Helicopters Available For Repositioning Within Ontario Or To Other Jurisdictions As Needed Under Mutual Aid Agreements, Ensuring The Ministry Can Respond Effectively To Wildland Fires, Protect Values At Risk, And Maintain Readiness Throughout The Fire Season.
