Construction Work – Works For The Construction Of The New Science Building On The Campus Of The University Of The Balearic Islands, With Financing From The Goib (Conselleria D’Educació), The Reib – Factor D’Insularitat De Les Illes Balears, And The Sustainable Balearic Islands Fund (Its).. The University Of The Balearic Islands (Uib) Faces A Structural Need To Expand And Modernize The Teaching, Research And Service Spaces Of The Faculty Of Sciences, Derived From: •Insufficiency And Obsolescence Of Current Buildings, Conceived More Than Three Decades Ago With Functional, Energy And Technological Criteria That Are Now Outdated. •Increased Demand For Places In Scientific Degrees And Masters, As Well As In Doctoral And Research Programs, Which Requires New Specialized Laboratories, Flexible Classrooms And Collaborative Work Spaces. •Need To Have Facilities That Meet Current Standards Of Safety, Universal Accessibility, Sustainability And Energy Efficiency, In Accordance With The Building Planning Law, The Technical Building Code And The Applicable Sector Regulations. The New Science Building Is Integrated Into The Urban And Functional Planning Of The Campus, Under The Protection Of The Universitys Special Plan And The Declaration Of Autonomous Interest Of The Works, Approved By Agreement Of The Governing Council Of May 2, 2023 (Boib No. 57, Of May 4, 2023), Under The Protection Of Decree-Law 1/2018, Of January 19. This Declaration Of Regional Interest Recognizes The Strategic Nature Of The Action To: •Improve The Quality Of University Teaching In The Scientific Field. •Promote Research And The Transfer Of Knowledge Towards The Socioeconomic Fabric Of The Balearic Islands. •Promote A Sustainable And Energy Efficient Campus Model, Consistent With Law 10/2019, On Climate Change And Energy Transition Of The Balearic Islands, And With State Energy Efficiency Regulations. Phase 1, The Subject Of This Contract, Constitutes The First Construction Milestone Of Stage I, Essential To Be Able To Address Phase 2 (Demolition Of The Current Module 1, Construction Of The New Module 1 And Associated Redevelopment) Without Serious Interruptions In Academic Activity. Suitability Of The Object And Content Of The Contract The Need Described Can Only Be Adequately Satisfied Through The Execution Of A New Building Work, With The Technical And Functional Characteristics Defined In The Project: •Compact, Highly Efficient Building, With Optimized Thermal Envelope, Solar Control And Natural Lighting Systems. •Integration Of High-Efficiency Air Conditioning, Ventilation, Lighting And Energy Management Facilities, Compatible With The Future Photovoltaic And Renewable Generation Infrastructures Of The Campus. •Design That Guarantees Compliance With The Basic Requirements Of Structural Safety, Safety In Case Of Fire, Health, Accessibility And Habitability, In Accordance With The Technical Building Code. •Articulation Of A Connecting Axis That Facilitates The Relationship With Module 2 And The Rest Of The Buildings In The Area, Improving Legibility, Accessibility And Function
