Ferry Transport Services – Continued Train Ferry Traffic Between Sweden And Germany. Train Ferry Traffic Enables The Transport Of Rail-Bound And Bulky, Heavy Material Where Transshipment Is Not Possible. Constitutes A Continuing Necessary Part Of The Transport Chain For Certain Socially Important Transports. There Has Been A Sharp Reduction In Train Ferry Traffic In The Last 20 Years Due To Deteriorating Profitability. In Light Of The Reduced Commercial Demand, There Is A Tangible Risk That Train Ferry Traffic Will Be Discontinued And There Are No Train Ferries That Can Meet The Remaining Need. The Commercial Freight Carriers Need For Train Ferries Has Gradually Decreased As A Result Of More Competitive Alternative Transport Solutions. Due To The Tangible Risk That The Railway Ferries Will Be Replaced By Conventional Roll-On Roll-Off Vessels, Without The Possibility Of Driving Train Carriages On Board, The Swedish Transport Administration Needs To Take Measures To Ensure That The Necessary Train Ferry Traffic Remains For Another Six Years, Until The Fehmarn Belt Connection Is Opened For Rail Transport. The Assignment Concerns An Assurance Of Continued Traffic With Train Ferries Between Sweden And Germany. Compensation Will Be Paid Only For Reported Additional Costs For Train Ferry Traffic With Two Train Ferries With Daily Traffic, An Additional Cost Compared To Similar Traffic With More Flexible, Cost-Effective And Newer Ro-Ro Ferries. The Start Of The Contract Is Urgent And Needs To Be As Soon As Possible, But No Later Than Within 3 Months After The Award Becomes Legally Binding. The Contract Period Extends To And Including 31/12/2031.
