The 24.5 Km Long Lærdal Tunnel On The E16 Between Aurland And Lærdal In Vestland County Is To Be Upgraded. The Tunnel Does Not Meet All Requirements In The Tunnel Safety Regulations, And The Requirements For Electrical Safety Have Changed Since The Tunnel Was Opened In 2000. There Are Extensive Measures That Must Be Carried Out For The Tunnel To Meet Todays Standard Requirements. The Blasting Work In The Main Tunnel Will Be Carried Out As Night Work, And During This Period The Tunnel Will Be Closed From 18.00 To 06.00. This Is A Very Intrusive Measure, Especially With Regard To Local Traffic, Which In Reality Has No Diversion Alternative. As A Mitigating Measure, A Public Transport Service Must Therefore Be Set Up Between Aurland And Lærdal, In The Afternoon/Evening. The Passenger Transport Will Go Through A Closed Tunnel With Construction Work In Progress. The Transport Must Follow A Fixed Route, And Passengers Must Book A Seat In Advance. Before Each Trip, The Facility Management Must Be Contacted To Make It Clear That It Is Passable Through The Tunnel. The Drivers Must Undergo Special Training With An Hse Review Before The Work Starts.
