Engineering Design Services – Expansion Of Bed Capacity & Main Entrance. The Leverkusen Clinic, The Academic Teaching Hospital Of The University Of Cologne, Is A Regional Top-Quality Hospital With A Highly Qualified Range Of Medical And Nursing Services. More Than 2,600 People Look After The Health And Well-Being Of Patients In Twelve Medical Departments With A Total Of 746 Beds, Numerous Centers And Institutes As Well As In The Service Areas, Subsidiaries And Administration. Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses, Therapists And Other Professional Groups Are On Duty Around The Clock. Over The Last Few Decades, The Leverkusen Clinic Has Become One Of The Largest Providers Of Healthcare Services In The Region. This Results, Among Other Things, In The Need To Expand Bed Capacity. The Expansion Of Bed Capacities Is Planned By Increasing The Adult Palliative Care Unit And Childrens Palliative Care Unit (Building 1, Component J And Component S) As Well As By Adding An Extension To Building 1.A. By Adding An Additional Floor To The Two Components 1.J & 1.S, A Total Of 30 Beds With Single And Double Rooms Will Be Created, Of Which 4 Are Single Rooms. These Serve To Care For Oncological Patients. The Connection Of The Components Is Ensured By Means Of A Connecting Bridge Adjacent To Building 1, Component A, Which Ensures An Optimal Connection To The Main Building And The Medical Care Located There, Such As Functional And Diagnostic Areas, Intensive Care Unit, Central Emergency Room And Operating Rooms. Parallel To The Extension, An Extension To Building 1, Component A Is Planned. The Extension Will Create Single And Double Rooms With 40 Additional Beds, Including 8 Single Rooms, Which Will Be Distributed Over Four Floors (2Nd - 5Th Floor) And Will Be Connected To The Existing Bed Wards. This Creates Short Paths And Synergy Effects. By Connecting To The Wards There, The 40 Beds Will Be Divided Into The Specialist Departments Of Orthopedics And Geriatric Traumatology, Cardiology, General Surgery And Vascular Surgery As Well As Urology In Order To Accommodate Their Increase In Performance. Due To This Constant Growth And Various Additions And Renovations To The Clinic, The Walking Paths For Patients And Visitors Have Become Very Long And Sometimes Confusing. It Is Now Important To Make This Grown Infrastructure Future-Oriented And As Climate-Neutral As Possible. In Addition To Various Other Construction Measures, The Leverkusen Clinic Is Relying On The Modern New Building In An Exposed Location On Building 1.A In Order To Design A New And Innovative Patient Route. An Attractive Entrance Area Is Planned That Extends Over Two Floors. The Modern New Buildings Are Intended To Combine Aesthetic Design With Functional Advantages And Show How The Leverkusen Clinic Is Responding To The Increasing Demands In The Healthcare System.
