Description Of Deliverablessimon Fraser University (Sfu) Seeks An Experienced And Qualified Manufacturer To Build And Supply Eight-To-Ten (8 To 10) Small, Relocatable Dwelling Units (“Research Pods”) To Be Emplaced In The First Instance On A Prepared Site On Remote Nootka Island (Off Northwestern Vancouver Island). Six-To-Eight (6-8) Of These Research Pods Will Provide 1-To-2-Person Sleeping Quarters; One (1) Will Accommodate Washroom Facilities; And One (1) Will Accommodate Kitchen Facilities. Each Unit Must Be Capable Of Being Powered And Heated In An Off-Grid Environment (I.E. Designed To Accept And Utilize External Energy Inputs). The Research Pods And Their Fixtures And Fittings Will Be Built For Longevity And Ease Of Maintenance.Proponents Must Ensure Compliance With All Mandatory Requirements Outlined Below. Proposals That Do Not Meet These Requirements Will Not Be Considered For Evaluation.Mandatory Requirements/Specifications:Minimum Size 80 Square Feet.Capable Of Being Relocated As And When Needed (Lifted Off Pad Onto Transport).Capable Of Being Heated To A Comfortable Room Temperature Year-Round; Insulation At Minimum R-16 Resistance Rating For Insulation In The Walls, R-22 In Ceilings/Floors.Hardened Against And Operating Reliably In Harsh Winter Conditions (E.G. Estimated 400Mm Precipitation A Month In Winter; 30-40 Knot Winds; Overnight Temperatures Consistently Below Freezing).
