Quotation are invited for Bio-Trickling Filters Media 30.79m3 Delivery Date: 2026/05/29 Delivery To: Ansie Smith Scientific Services Delivery Address: 01 JAN SMUTS DRIVE, WASTEWATER AVENUE, KEWTOWN, AHTLONE Closing Date: 2026/03/16 Closing Time: 12:00 PM Description: 1 cubic meter x bio-trickling filters media 30.79m3 Specification: * Bio-trickling Filters Media 30.79m3 dour Control Systems at various pump stations transporting sewage to the Wastewater Treatment Works. These systems utilise various types of mechanisms and media to remove odours. The mechanical infrastructure for the various systems is in place. This tender focus only on the replacement of the media at the various units. The successful bidder must be able to deliver a lightweight synthetic polymer (e.g., polyurethane or similar) which facilitates gas to liquid transfer. The synthetic polymer must be able to sustain microbial growth. The synthetic polymer must last for a minimum of 10 years. The synthetic polymer must be porous and not easily clogged or fouled by variable treated effluent from wastewater works. If required, nutrient dosing must also be accounted for to sustain microbial activity. Quarterly microbe reseeding (at minimum or as per supplier recommended frequency) must be included as part of this RFQ for a period of 12 months if required The microbial consortium used must be able to reduce H2S and other relevant wastewater malodours. Analytical data from other South African implemented systems confirming removal efficiency must be submitted. An optimum pH level must be maintained. If required, the periodic (as per supplier recommended frequency) flushing out of dead biomass and metabolites from the system must be included in the RFQ. The successful bidder must submit a detailed standard operating procedure detailing the tools required and steps involved in the disassembly, spent media removal, fresh media replacement and reassembly of the bio-trickling filter. A detailed health and safety worksheet (with required PPE) must also be provided. An H2S removal efficiency of >98% must be achieved by the organic media during peak and normal hours. This measurement will be based on the difference between the in- and outflow (pre and post treatment). Detailed information on how and where to dispose of waste media after its reported lifespan must be provided. The synthetic polymer media shall be transported and installed on-site by the successful bidder (see Table 1 for list of pump stations). A written report must be submitted by the supplier within 7 days of installation to show that the scrubber media complies to the >98% removal efficiency. Calibration certificates for all equipment used to test the H2S removal efficiency must be provided by the supplier.
