Architectural And Related Services – Realization Competition For Open Spaces On Lake Griebnitz. With This Open Space Planning Competition For The Southern Bank Of Lake Griebnitz, The State Capital Potsdam Intends To Develop A Sustainable Concept For The Design Development Of This Special Riparian Area. In The Implementation Part, Three New Open Spaces On The Water With Different Qualities Are To Be Created. In The Ideas Section, Continuous Access As A Footpath And Cycle Path Should Be Secured. The Water Location Is Accompanied By A High Local Recreation Potential. The Competition Is Intended To Produce Transferable Design Ideas For The Entire Riverside Area - Especially For The Topics Of Passageways, Experiencing Water And Landscape, Historical References, Guidance Systems, Planting And Furnishings. The Concerns Of Nature And Species Protection Must Be Taken Into Account As Well As Measures To Promote Biodiversity. Participants Are Expected To Provide Creative And At The Same Time Implementable Suggestions That Strike A Balance Between Ecological, Social And Design Requirements. The Planned Structural Implementation Of The Design Ideas Developed In The Implementation Part Is Intended To Create Exemplary Public Open Spaces On The Water For The Population - Attractive Places To Stay And Meeting Places, Especially For Young People. These Are Intended To Provide Impetus For The Future Development Of A Continuous, Tangible Green Connection Along The Southern Bank And To Sustainably Strengthen The Urban Development And Landscape Quality Of Potsdam. A Riverside Path And The Design Of The Areas That Are Already Publicly Accessible Would Provide Potsdams Population, Day Trippers And Tourists With An Attractive, Scenic Open Space On The Water. In The Future, A Continuous Bank Path With Publicly Designed Open Spaces Is To Be Reactivated Or Newly Implemented Along The Former Route Of The Wall. At The Same Time, This Would Close An Existing Gap In The Berlin Wall Trail And Sustainably Strengthen The Network Of Existing Cycling And Hiking Trails. In The Past, Several Attempts Have Been Made To Ensure Public Accessibility And Usability Of The Riverbank Areas Through Land-Use Planning. Lawsuits For Regulatory Control Were Successful In 2009 And 2019; The Respective Development Plans (B-Plan No. 8 Griebnitzsee, B-Plan No. 125 Griebnitzsee Shore Zone) Were Therefore Declared Ineffective. In September 2021, The Decision To Set Up The New B-Plan No. 174 Griebnitzseeufer Was Made. The Next Step Is To Develop The Preliminary Draft. The Results Of The Competition Are Intended To Serve As A Clear Basis For The Ongoing Development Plan Process And To Support Abstract Planning Law With Understandable And Convincing Images. The Project Presents Great Opportunities And Challenges At The Same Time. It Opens Up Opportunities To Create High-Quality Recreational Areas, To Enhance The Tourist And Ecological Aspects Of The Riverside Zones And To Strengthen The Historical Identity Of The Place
