Research And Development Services And Related Consultancy Services – Fe 04.0347/2022/Cgb - Determination Of The Precision Of The Lateral Force Measurement Method (Skm) Against The Background Of National And European Standardization. As The Road Construction Authority, The Federal Government Is Obliged To Provide Road Users With Safe Road Surfaces. This Particularly Includes Ensuring That The Road Surface Has Sufficient Grip. In Germany, Grip Is Assessed Using The Lateral Force Measurement Method (Skm). In 2006, The Precision Of The Scrim (Sideway-Force Coefficient Routine Investigation Machine) Measuring Method Was Determined Using Seven Measuring Vehicles And Anchored In The Regulations. Since Then, Numerous Optimizations And Further Developments Have Taken Place, Both In Terms Of The Skm Measurement Process Itself And The Quality Assurance Processes. The Currently Applicable Correction Formulas, Both For The Measuring Speed And For The Temperatures, Were Not Used In The Round Robin Test At The Time. This Constant Improvement Process Has Not Yet Been Taken Into Account In The Regulations. This Also Applies To The Measurement And Consideration Of The Vertical Force Actually Acting During The Measurement Process Compared To The Approach Of A Constant Static Load (200 Kg), As Is Currently Practiced In Germany. A New Determination Of The Precision For The Current Technological Status Of The Skm Measuring Process Is Therefore Urgently Required. The Aim Of This Research Project Is To Determine The Current Precision Of The Skm Measuring Method, Taking Into Account The Optimizations And Technical Developments That Have Taken Place In Recent Years. With Knowledge Of The Precision Not Only For The 100M Section, But Also For Shorter Evaluation Sections, Local Grip Deficits Can Be Better Detected And Corrected In The Future. This Makes An Important Contribution To Increasing Traffic Safety. Furthermore, The Findings Are Incorporated Into The Revision Of The Technical Regulations Within The Framework Of National And European Standardization.
