Information Technology Services – Flex-Solar-Bw An Der Thu. The Flex-Solar-Bw Research Project At The Ulm University Of Technology Aims To Test The “Flexible Export Limits” For Photovoltaic Systems In Baden-Württemberg, Which Were Successfully Introduced In South Australia. Flexible Export Limits Are A Solution To Overcome The Currently Increasingly Common Requirement Of Zero Feed-In By Network Operators And An Alternative To The 60% Limit Of The Solar Peak Law. Flex-Solar-Bw Is Testing The Worlds Leading Solution For Active Feed-In Management Of Photovoltaic House Roof Systems In Low Voltage Under The Conditions Of The German Smart Meter Infrastructure. The Solution Includes Querying The Actual Feed-In In Real Time And Controlling The Feed-In From Rooftop Systems. The Project Opens Up Potential For Cost Reductions And Increases Acceptance Of The Control Rollout For Consumers And Network Operators. Embedded In The Thu Smart Grid Laboratory And Energy Park As Well As Real Field Tests With Network And System Operators, It Offers A Unique Research Environment And Strengthens Baden-Württembergs Position As An Innovation Location For Sustainable Energy Systems. In Addition To The Overarching Goal Of Learning From The Cost-Efficient Solution For Controlling The Feed-In Of Rooftop Photovoltaic Systems That Has Been Successfully Tested In South Australia, The Project Pursues The Following Specific Goals For Transferring, Testing And Further Developing This Approach In The German Context: • Installation And Operation Of An Ieee 2030.5 Server In Baden-Württemberg For Standardized, Secure Communication Between Inverters And Distribution Network Operators Based On The Ieee 2030.5 Standards, Including Support For Setup And Operation In A Local Cloud. • Integration Of The Ieee 2030.5 Standard Into The German Control Rollout By Integrating Cls Gateways (Theben Smart Energy) And Testing The Control Solution In The Control Room Of The Thu Smart Grid Laboratory In Cooperation With Advalju. • Connection Of The Ieee 2030.5 Server To Low-Voltage Control Systems Of Distribution Network Operators Via Web Services To Receive Measurement Data And Transmit Control Commands In Collaboration With Dso Service Providers (Vivavis, Psi). • Demonstration And Testing Of The Control Solution With Several Distribution Network Operators, Different Inverters And Different Communication Channels As Well As The Involvement Of Up To 100 Voluntary Customers As Part Of Flex-Solar-Bw As A Short-Term Alternative To The 60% Limit And Zero Feed-In. • Derivation Of Recommendations For Action For The Further Development Of The German Control Rollout Through Technical, Economic And Regulatory Comparison Of The Solutions, Analysis Of Social Acceptance Of Flexible Export Limits And Inclusion Of The Results In Standardization, Regulation And Scientific Publications. The Flex-Solar-Bw Project Started On December 1St, 2025 And Runs Until July 31St, 2027. More D
