Land Reclamation Services – Cleaning Of Streams Of Rhodes Island. The Object Of The Contract Is The Cleaning Of Streams On The Island Of Rhodes. The Works That Will Be Carried Out To Clean The Streams Concern The Removal, Mainly From The Bottom, The Slopes And The Banks Of The Watercourses, Of Waste, Vegetation And Floating Materials, Which Hinder The Smooth Surface Runoff Of The Waters And Are Summarized As Follows: • Removal From The Bed And The Slopes Of The Streams, Of Floating Materials, I.E. Loose Stones In General, Dirt, Gravel, Sand, Wood, Garbage, Tree Trunks, Which Are Transported With The Water And Block Critical Points Of The Streams Without Making Any Change To The Original Cross-Section Of The Stream. • Clearing Of Native Vegetation. • Soil Clearing Or Uprooting Of Saplings At A Height Of 0.40M From The Surface Of The Natural Soil. Low Damaged Vegetation Will Not Be Removed Where It Is Considered Dangerous To Disturb The Natural Formation Of The Soil. • Cutting And Removal Of Unhealthy Trees, Where This Is Necessary, Following A Relevant Permit From The Forestry Department, Which Are Located On The Slopes And The Stream Bed. Trees Must Be Cut In Such A Way As Not To Disturb The Slopes And Stream Beds For Obvious Reasons. To This End, The Trees Will Be Cut At A Height Of 0.40 M From The Natural Ground And The Trunk Will Be Removed, While The Root Will Remain In Place So As Not To Disturb The Cohesion Of The Soil. The Cutting Height Of The Trees Is Independent Of The Circumference Of Their Trunk. • Restoration Of Damaged Wire Boxes In Positions To Be Indicated By The Service. • Cleaning Of Portable Materials And Removal Of Sediments, By Any Means (Manually Or With Mechanical Assistance), Of The Existing Box-Shaped, Tubular Etc. Drains In Order To Free The Cross-Section For The Uninterrupted Flow Of Rainwater As Well As The Triangular Drainage Ditches, In The Provincial And Municipal Road Network, Through Which The Rainwater Is Directed To The Specific Watercourses. • Cleaning The Bed Of Portable Inert Materials (Sand Gravel), To Maintain A Uniform Flow Of The Bed With Lateral Deposition Of The Materials.
