Mainframe Computer – Access - Hpc-Cluster. Simulation-Based Digital Twins With Very High Computing Effort Are To Be Operated On The Newly Procured High Performance Computing (Hpc) Cluster. Fully Coupled Casting Process Simulations Are Typically Run On More Than 100 Cpu Cores Over Several Days. Comparable Requirements Exist For Simulations Along The Entire Forging Route. In Addition, Ai Applications And Modern Simulation Software Are Used, Which Can Be Executed Much More Efficiently On Gpu-Based Architectures. The Results Of The Simulations Are Linked To Process Data In A Data Management System And Stored Permanently For Downstream Analyses. The New Computing System Must Therefore At Least Achieve The Computing Power Of The Existing Cluster With Currently Around 900 Cpus (Intel Xeon Gold 6132 @ 2.60 Ghz), And Should Exceed This As Much As Possible And Also Have Several Gpus. Efficient Parallelization Of The Computing Load On The Cpus Is Absolutely Necessary. The Data Management System Requires Storage With A Minimum Capacity Of 500 Tb. Larger Storage Is Highly Desired. The Hpc Cluster Will Initially Be Installed In Accesss Existing Computer Room On Intzestrasse And Is Scheduled To Move To The New Plca Building At Merzbrück Research Airfield In 2028. The Existing Water-Cooled Rack System Must Be Used At The Intzestrasse Location. The Available Electrical Connection Power Is Limited To A Maximum Of 28 Kva.
