Contract Award For IGBT WRD Module MICAS-Re465 When Delivered In The 1990S, The Re465 Fleet Was Equipped With GTO (Gate Turn-Off Thyristor) Technology Inverters. GTO Technology Was Replaced In The Early 2000S By The More Efficient IBGT (Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistor) Technology For New Vehicles. If The Remaining Service Life Of The Locomotives Extends To 2040, The Existing Modules Must Therefore Be Replaced With Modules Of More Modern IGBT Technology, Due To Their Lack Of Scalability (Obsolescence, Reduced Repair Successes) , High Repair Costs (Around 15 Repairs Per Year) And Reduced Availability Due To Defects. Thanks To This Acquisition, The Repair Capacity As Well As The Availability Of Vehicles Are Improved.
