Work Detail Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has announced its success in Australia’s first offshore wind Feasibility Licence process, securing two licences. CIP now has site exclusivity to develop offshore wind projects over two areas, one covering 586 km2 and the other 689 km2. Star of the South is a project of up to 2.2 GW, proposed to be situated at least 10 km off the Gippsland coast. Kut-Wut Brataualung is a new and earlier stage 2.2 GW project named in partnership with Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation. CIP has also launched Southerly Ten, a dedicated platform company for the development and delivery of offshore wind projects in Australia. Southerly Ten will lead the development and delivery of CIP’s Australian offshore wind portfolio, including these first two projects. Charles Rattray will lead Southerly Ten, having served as CEO of Star of the South since August 2022.
