The Liberia Foundational Skills Activity (LFSA) aims to increase the number of Liberian children accessing primary school and meeting government of Liberia learning standards enforcing education standards in Liberia.
Liberia went through years of hardship and hard-fought progress toward education for all and is poised to measurably increase system efficiencies so that many more children, particularly from marginalized and vulnerable communities, master foundational reading and social-emotional skills through schooling that is safe, relevant, and promotes wellbeing. Through the Liberia Foundational Skills Activity (LFSA), Chemonics brings a team of Liberian and international education leaders to support the country in achieving this goal.
The USAID-funded LFSA is a five-year activity that aims to improve education access and learning outcomes for primary school students by increasing on-time enrollment, improving age-appropriate placement in classrooms, providing sufficient and contextually appropriate teaching and learning materials, and improving teacher ability to consistently apply appropriate teaching practices in the classroom.
By equipping key education ecosystem actors with capacity building, opportunity, and motivation, LFSA will increase the number of children accessing primary school and meeting national learning standards to read fluently and with comprehension. |
