Singapore-based MEO Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korea-based cables and solutions provider Taihan Cable & Solution.
The agreement was signed during the Singapore-Korea Business Forum. Under the conditions of the MoU, the two companies will collaborate on offshore wind projects, especially in South Korea.
The two will conduct activities by deploying both MEO vessels and Taihan’s cable-laying vessels.
MEO Group has a fleet of around 120 vessels, including those used for offshore wind project support. As for Taihan Cable & Solution, South Korea’s first electric wire producer, it opened the first phase of its submarine cable plant in Dangjin Port that will supply the offshore wind industry earlier this year. The second phase will be completed in the first half of 2025.
This cooperation is another step towards South Korea’s target of 14.3GW of offshore wind by 2030 and 40.7GW of total wind by 2038. |
