Manufacturing unicorn Zetwerk is planning to invest Rs 1,000 crore in its consumer electronics manufacturing foray. The company seeks to enter newer categories, expand its manufacturing presence apart from the north of India, and aims to forge tie-ups with government.
The company intends to enter into the electric vehicle (EV) and IT hardware category to accomplish growth. In the EV category, Zetwerk expects to foray into the space of battery management systems, battery packs, power drains, and the components moving towards the electronic side along with the battery. It will begin production of laptops within the current financial year and is underway to finalise factory, system, and pilot runs.
In addition, the company is in talks with many international brands for partnerships to speed up scaling. Moreover, Zetwerk plans to tie up with the government to gain access to real estate and leverage its labour training and hiring programs. Also, it plans to ramp up its manufacturing footprint beyond the North region.
Zetwerk is among the few original design manufacturers (ODMs), making one million devices a month. The company ventured into electronics manufacturing through the hearable and wearable category and now manufactures products such as TWS, Bluetooth neckbands, speakers, smartwatches, and others. It has also forayed into television as a category, where it manufactures for about six-seven brands. |
